Smoked Salmon is one of those foods that my kids swore they were not going to like...until they tried it. Yes, it's pink and slimy looking and it smells like...well, fish!, but once you get past what you THINK it is going to taste like and try it you will find it has a mild smoky flavor and is so soft and delicate, it melts in your mouth. It is really really good.
A great way to introduce the family to Smoked Salmon is to make a fun, build your own sampler tray. You can add anything you like, but here is a list of what we add:
1 package smoked salmon
1/2 cup sour cream mixed with chopped dill or fennel
chopped red onion
chopped hard boiled egg
sliced crusty bread
Then everyone gets a piece of bread, smears on some sour cream, lays on a piece of salmon and tops it with whatever they want. I always try to squeeze everything on my little piece of bread because I love every single flavor together. Hope you enjoy!
Note: Smoked Salmon has a considerable amount of salt. This can also be made with a baked salmon filet if you are trying to avoid salt.
